Requiring no digging, just hammer into the ground.

The steel weathers over time giving your garden a contemporary edge. You can use this edging for many purposes including creating garden beds, separating different elements within your garden, creating pathways, tree circles and fire-pit areas.

Weathering Steel Elegant Garden Edging comes in two size heights - 190mm or 250mm (incl. the 7 x 90/100mm spikes). The edging is sold in 1075mm lengths (incl. 75mm overlap that joins pieces together).  For example, if you need 10 metres of edging you should buy 10 pieces of Elegant Edging.

1.5mm gauge (width).

We also offer FREE design advice in relation to the edges you would like to create and the recommended height required for your garden.

Installation

Always wear Protective Gear, such as Safety Glasses, Boots and Gloves.

Mark out where the edging is to go.

If the ground is hard, for best results, use an edger to create a visible channel when inserting.

Link a few pieces together at a time – Elegant Edging comes with prefabricated ends that simply slide together. Refer to the video.

Initially hammer the Elegant Edging into the ground with a mallet to a depth of about 3-4cm. To avoid damaging the Edging, use a wood block rather than hitting the metal directly. Then adjust the edging as required, before progressively knocking the edging into the ground. As it becomes a fairly rigid structure when it is joined together, it is advisable to "work the line" progressively, not trying to hit each piece all the way in, but rather in a way that the whole structure goes into the ground gradually. Do not leave any of the last pieces of edging in a line with an exposed 90 degree end point. This can be overcome by bending the end of the last piece back against a wall/fence/footing or join it more edging to form a full loop.

To form a circle please refer to the table below to work out how many pieces are required depending on the radius/diameter of the circle you are looking to create. We do not recommend you use less than 3 pieces for form a circle. Simply join the pieces together to form a circle and install as per the instructions above.

Frequently Asked Questions

What differentiates Elegant Edging from its competitors?

There are few key differentiators, namely:

1) The edging links together easily without the need for nuts and bolts to join the pieces

2) Each metre of edging has 7 integrated stakes enabling easy installation

3) No need to dig a trench pre install, unless your ground is particularly hard or rocky

4) There is no need to buy corner pieces.

5) We aim to keep our pricing at an affordable level, making is more accessible to more customers

6) We aim to be extremely responsive to customer queries and requests via phone, email, sms, our online chat or messenger.

How do you bend Elegant Edging to form a sharp angle?

Wearing all the necessary Safety Gear, such as gloves, safety glasses and boots, the easiest way is to give it a light score with an angle grinder where you want to bend it.  Then place it in a vice and bend it on the seam you’ve created.  If you don’t have a vice you could use a block of wood as a point of leverage.

Where is Elegant Edging manufactured?

Elegant Edging is manufactured in China.  We have had the steel tested to ensure that it meets Australian Standards, namely AS/NZS 3678:2016 Grade 350WR.

How do the pieces link together?

Elegant Edging has prefabricated ends that simply slide together.  If they are a little tight, use a mallet to tap them together. Refer to the video

Do I need to buy metal stakes to hold the Edging in place?

No stakes are required as Elegant Edging comes with its own integrated installation design.  Each Edge has 7 spikes that are part of the Edge, making installation very easy.  Plus, the cost per Edge is the final cost – no need to factor in the cost of stakes required for installation.  The only time that we suggest using extra stakes is when you are installing a straight long line of edging into very soft/new soil.

How many pieces are required to form a circle?

To form a circle please refer to the table below to work out how many pieces are required depending on the radius/diameter of the circle you are looking to create.  We do not recommend you use less than 3 pieces for form a circle.  Simply join the pieces together to form a circle and install as per the instructions above.

Do you have a minimum quantity per order?

No - we do not have a minimum quantity per order.

How much is shipping?

Our shipping rate is $30 per 25kg. For example, an order weighing 10kg or 20kg will be $30, an order weighing 40kg will be $60. The current special running is that shipping is FREE for orders of 10 or more pieces.

How many pieces should I order?

Measure out the area that you would like to edge. If the measurement comes to 10 metres, then all you need is 10 pieces. Although each piece is 1075mm long, 75mm is used up where 2 pieces join together easily. If there are corners involved it would be worthwhile considering buying 1 or 2 extra pieces to give you some flexibility when you install the edging.

What do I do if the edging I need does not exactly match the Elegant Edging lengths?

There are a few options here, depending on your garden. In some cases it would make sense to simply cut off the excess length not required. Alternatively, if you bend the excess to 90 degrees this can often create a very neat finish against a wall or fence. If in doubt, please contact us and we will offer our opinion for FREE.

How should I store the edging before it is installed?

Weathering steel weathers best when it goes through cycles of being wet and then drying out. If it is left on its side in the rain or in water, pre installation, it can revert to its original steel colouring. It will weather again to its final red-brown rust colour, but ideally this should be avoided if possible.

  • Refer to the table to work out how many pieces are required depending on the radius/diameter of the circle you are creating.  We do not recommend you use less than 3 pieces to form a circle.  Simply join the pieces together to form a circle and install as per the instructions above.
