Frequently asked questions

How do I make a 90° corner in CoreEdge Weathering Steel?

You have two options. The easiest is our Corner Piece: it has a built-in fold crease, so you can bend it by hand to the angle you need without affecting the surface of the steel. It joins to both flat top and rolled top edging.

Alternatively, you can score and bend a standard length. Wearing gloves, safety glasses and boots, lightly score the steel with an angle grinder where you want the bend, then clamp it in a vice (or use a block of wood for leverage) and bend along the score. See our corner guide for a walkthrough.

Where is CoreEdge made?

CoreEdge is made to our specifications by a partner factory in China. We've visited the factory in person and developed CoreEdge's design with them, including some innovative accessories such as the slope adjuster and end pieces. Every order ships from Brisbane, and our Australian team is here to help before and after you buy.

How many lengths do I need for a circle?

Use our circle calculator to find how many lengths you need for your diameter. Flat top: at least 3 lengths (about 95cm across, ideal around a tree). Rolled top: at least 12 lengths (about 3.8m across), so it suits large circles only. Join the lengths into a circle, then install as normal.

Is there a minimum order?

No. Order as many or as few lengths as you need.

Is delivery free?

Delivery is free across Australia on orders of $275 and over. Orders under $275 ship for a flat $30. If in doubt contact us on 0427 554 280. We dispatch from Brisbane within 24–48 hours. Please note we can't deliver to PO boxes.

How much edging do I need?

Lay a hose or string along the line you want to edge, then measure it. Each length is 1075mm, with 75mm used in the join, so every length covers 1 metre: 10m of edge = 10 lengths. If your design has corners, add 1–2 spare lengths. Not sure? Send us a photo or sketch and we'll work it out for free.

What if my edge doesn't match the lengths exactly?

You have three options: finish the run with an end piece, cut off the excess with an angle grinder, or bend the excess 90° for a neat finish against a wall or fence. Avoid leaving any sharp points exposed.

How should I store the edging before installing it?

Keep it flat, off the ground and somewhere dry and ventilated, ideally in its packaging. Don't store it on pavers, decking or concrete, as the weathering steel can leave rust marks.

Which CoreEdge product should I choose?

Edging garden beds and lawns: weathering steel edging for a natural, rust-toned look, or powder-coated galvanised steel edging for a neat, modern line. Around trees or fire pits: weathering steel tree rings. To finish runs or handle slopes: end pieces and slope adjusters. Still unsure? Send us a photo and we'll recommend the right fit.

What is CoreEdge made from?

Weathering steel: a steel alloy that forms a stable, rust-coloured patina which protects the steel underneath. Our black edging is powder-coated galvanised steel.

How does the rust finish develop?

The steel reacts with air and moisture to form a rust-coloured patina over time, and that rust layer protects the steel underneath. To extend the life of the edging, you can apply a bitumen sealer to the parts that sit in the soil.

Does CoreEdge Weathering Steel need maintenance?

Very little. The patina develops best with regular cycles of wetting and drying. Occasionally clear away built-up soil, mulch or debris so the surface can weather evenly. A bitumen sealer on the below-ground section can extend its life.

Can I collect my order or see the products in person?

Yes. Pick-ups and viewings can be arranged in Gumdale, Brisbane (4154). Call us on 0427 554 280 to book a time.

How do I track my order?

Once your order is with the courier, we'll email you a tracking number so you can follow it to your door. Any problems, call us on 0427 554 280.

Flat top or rolled top: what's the difference?

Flat top is the most versatile: use it for straight runs, curves and circles. Rolled Top has a rolled top edge that makes it more rigid, so it's best for straight lines and gentle curves. Both come in 195mm and 265mm heights, with the same click-lock joins and 7 stakes per metre. Flat Top and Rolled Top edging of the same height can be joined together as needed.

Do you offer bulk or trade discounts?

Yes. We offer additional discounts on larger volume and trade orders, taking delivery costs into account. Call 0427 554 280 or email admin@elegantlivingsolutions.com.au to discuss your project.

How do I contact you?

Call 0427 554 280 or email admin@elegantlivingsolutions.com.au. We love hearing about your garden plans, so get in touch with any questions.

Can you recommend someone to install it?

Yes. We work with landscapers across Australia who can install CoreEdge for you. Call 0427 554 280 and we'll put you in touch.

How tall is the edging above and below ground?

Heights are measured from the top of the edging to the tip of the spikes. 195mm: 100mm above ground, 95mm below. 265mm: 150mm above ground, 115mm below.

Can I cut CoreEdge Weathering Steel on site?

Yes. Use an angle grinder with a metal cutting disc, and wear gloves, safety glasses and boots. Cut edges will weather to match the rest of the edging over time.

Will CoreEdge keep lawn runners out of my garden beds?

It forms a solid steel barrier above and below ground that helps keep runners out of your beds. Some may still creep through, but the odd runner is simple to manage.

Will weathering steel stain my paving?

It can. While the patina develops, rainwater can carry rust onto nearby concrete, pavers or light-coloured stone. Leave a small gap from hard surfaces, or seal porous paving before installing.
